Happy Friday, Parents!
We had a great week here at Powers Ferry. We learned about living and non-living things and explored the story The Mitten. We continued working on comparing numbers within 20 and have been hard at work writing our informational pieces about fish. I enjoyed seeing some of you last night at the Character Extravaganza! It was great seeing your families learn and have fun together. The weather seems to only be getting COLDER so please make sure that your child has appropriate cold weather attire and their names are inside all jackets and hats. If you need any assistance with clothing for your family, do not hesitate to call the school and they will be happy to assist you with those needs! This will be our focus for next week: Reading- identifying key details in Tacky the Penguin and gathering details from non-fiction penguin informational texts. Sight words: in, on, up Phonics: Letter sounds /f/, /p/, /o/; blending consonant-vowel-consonant words (CVC words, examples are cat, dog, lip, sun) Writing- constructing informational pieces Math- forming number bonds within 5 (Example: I can make 5 by putting together 0 and 5, 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 3 and 2, 4 and 1, and 5 and 0.) Social Studies/Science- Groundhog's Day and Veteran's Day
