Good afternoon, Parents! I cannot believe we are only 4 days away from Spring Break!! Please keep in mind that school will be out from April 1-5. Remember to continue to read with your child, practice sight words, and work on addition/subtraction fluency within 5. Fluency means that your child will be able to do "mental math" adding and subtracting up to 5 (for example, 2+3 or 5-1).
Report cards were sent home on Friday for our 3rd Quarter grades. The students have been working very hard towards their goals and are really showing their growth. I could not be more proud of ALL of them :) Here are some upcoming dates or events: March 29: Awards Day (by invitation only) April 1-5: Spring Break (NO SCHOOL) April 8: Cycle 10 Phonics test April 24: Cycle 11 Phonics test May 2: Spring Bling Dance 6:30-8pm May 3: Career Day May 10: Field Day!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend with their families. I am excited to see the students tomorrow to jump into some new topics and opportunities for our classroom. Your child MAY have mentioned Headsprout to you. This is an online game that aligns your child with their abilities to teach and support their reading skills. The students seem to really be enjoying it in class and learn something new on it everyday. I will be sending their sign in information so that they may continue their growth at home. This is a free app that can be accessed through computers/tablets/phones that keeps your child not only entertained but engaged in their personal learning. We also began using a new program named Seesaw in which students can display their learning and understandings through videos, pictures, and writing. The best part is these submissions by the students can also be emailed home for you to view and enjoy! Please do not forget that this week is supposed to be COLD, COLD, COLD! Please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the winter weather (c'mon Spring) with winter jackets and hats. If you need any assistance obtaining these items, please do not hesitate to ask me or the front desk. We also have a field trip coming up to the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Yellow permission slips have been sent home in your child's folder. Please make sure to fill these out and send them back by the 10th of March. If you have lost the permission slip, send a note in your child's folder and I will be happy to send home a replacement. We are super excited for our first field trip and look forward to everyone getting to participate!
